On the 250th we welcome all the visiting diaspora to Ullapool Museum to have a bit of a get together and open discussion around cultural identities. Dr Marjory Taylor will host an open discussion with all of our visitors to see how immigration has effected our familes by asking how difficult is it to maintain a cultural heritage that is removed from the geographical homeland? How do you feel when you return to the country of your ancestors? What connects you to your ancestors?

Dunrobin Street, Helmsdale: history, buildings and people
Timespan Museum, Helmsdale
Helmsdale was built in 1815 by the Sutherland landowners to provide employment opportunities for the displaced tenantry in the developing Scottish fishing industry. Dunrobin Street became the commercial centre, with shops and hotels running the length of the village, with interconnecting lanes leading outwards in all directions. Join us for a virtual tour of the buildings along Dunrobin Street, uncovering their history and the people connected to them. Guest local contributors share stories and memories.
